This is our second attempt at Junius Hour where we follow a passion to create something for somebody. We can explain why we made it and how we made it. Creations range from houses for toys, books, photo frames, computer game heroes, a woodwork ship, a tiger made out of recycled materials, magic tricks, a clock, wearable art and an aircraft carrier! We all had fun creating and then sharing with the rest of the school!

Treeplanting
At the end of term 2 Room 10 and Room 11 went up the Grampians with Room 4 buddies to plant some native trees to enhance the environment up there. It was a steep walk to get to the spot. We helped to dig the hole, take the tree out of the pot, tickle the roots, then plant our trees. We will go back there in years to come to see how our trees are getting along!
Our trip to the Suter Gallery
This week Room 11 went on a trip to the newly renovated Suter Art Gallery to do ceramics. We walked all the way there from our school, it was a very long way. We were shown the new gallery and told about Andrew and Amelia Suter who had the gallery built to show art works to the community over 100 years ago. We walked through the gallery and then we looked at the wooden poles with Maori carvings on. Then we went into the clay room and created our own Christmas tree ornaments with koru designs inscribed on them. Thanks to all the parents who came along with us. It was an awesome trip!

Sharing Junius Hour and our work in term 2
Congratulations for all your hard work this term! in Junius Hour you managed to come up with a passion that you wanted to find out more about and make a presentation. You were able to talk about what you did and why you made it. Well done also for all the art work and creations that you made in the workshops you chose to go to. Thanks to all the middle and senior children who came along and to all the parents who came to celebrate the childrens' success!!! Awesome effort!
